Lone Wolf Studio began in 2006 after a move from Atlanta, GA to Vermont with nature as my back drop and the only traffic jam is waiting for a flock of wild turkeys to cross the road. Lone Wolf Studio is my creative space where time stands still. Painting to me is in the same way as to others who like to sit down and while away the hours reading a good book. Where time and space no longer exists. The enjoyment of drawing stole me away from the first day I could hold a pencil. Animals in general and horses in particular led me to a double major of commercial art and horsemanship in college. I followed a career working for myself as an Architectural Illustrator/graphic designer for over two decades. I continue to have a passionate love affair with Arabian horses considered as “living Art”.

I invite the observer to “feel” with their eyes. To be able to feel the crispness of a polished apple, the coolness of china, the texture of linen or the softness of a horses muzzle or the silkiness of a dogs coat. I paint what inspires me and I also paint what inspires you. I love painting animal portraits (past or present). Capturing the essence of the animal, in particular their eyes. The window to their soul.

Artist’s Statement:

I'm basically a representational artist with a realistic style. My personality is not made to follow the norm and to specialize in just one genre. I have a vast interest that inspires me to paint, whether it is a soulful look from one of our horses, the way the sun plays across the Vermont Green Mountains or watching people live with nature. Although animals are the most inspiration for my paintings, at any time, you might find a still life, a landscape, a house portrait, portraits of people or architectural illustrations in my studio. I choose the medium that resonates best with the subject.

A soul satisfying trail ride in the Vermont countryside is my favorite way to take in nature’s beauty.

Namaste,

Jyl
